Autumn outfits from Personal Stylist Lisa Gillbe
My Autumn outfits wish list is right here!
There is something incredibly exciting about the switch to Autumn fashion. Maybe it’s the fact we’ve barely been getting dressed at all throughout August when a simple tee shirt and shorts will do. Or perhaps it’s that ‘back to school’ vibe that we can never shake… Autumn fashion feels fresh and new and even thought I am GUTTED that Summer is almost done, I can distract myself by planning what I’m going to be wearing over the coming months!
Since mid-August I’ve been looking around to see what’s what and what’s hot for the new season. I’ve pulled together a big shoppable edit of all the most covetable things out there to update your look.
Before diving in, have a good look through your existing wardrobe. What do you actually need to make a difference, what are the gaps? Are there some things you haven’t updated for a while like shoes, jackets or tops? Are your dresses feeling dated or could your workwear do with a big update? If something is feeling ‘off’ or you are struggling with certain areas like work or social events, try to pinpoint it.
It’s tempting to dive in, get excited and start aimlessly buying new pieces, adding volume to the wardrobe when what need is outfits. You would think that having lots of clothes means you have lots of outfits but it doesn’t! You need to have the right mix of items in the wardrobe to be able to create outfits. Identify what those are and you can shop with more intent and focus! If you’d like some help working out how to get a functional wardrobe and lots of outfit ideas, I go into this on my podcast ‘The Style Stories Podcast’ - I have 3 new episodes in the pipeline talking about autumn trends, finding your style and how to get a functional wardrobe.
Autumn 2024 wish list
Now on with the main part of the blog. What’s hot for autumn 2024.
The main trends are;
Colours; Burgandy, chocolate brown, rose pink and khaki/olive and red
Boho - this is the mood of the season but a tougher 2024 take on it. Think floaty dresses with wooden clogs or boots toughened up with a black leather belt
Sheer - still a huge trend. Mesh shoes, mesh dresses, lace tops, lace see-through dresses and skirts worn over jeans or trousers or by themselves with boots.
Knee high boots
FLAT SHOES! Keep your stilettos in the dust bags ladies, comfort is key and flats and the shoe of the season
Brown suede jackets - literally everywhere!
Wide loose tailored trousers and wide baggy jeans
Fair Isle and patterned knits
Striped shirts
Leopard print is huge and polka dots are a trend
And here’s my shoppable edit - enjoy!
Jackets and coats; M&S borg jacket, Khaki trench coat - Sezane, Red tailored Aligne blazer, Herringbone blazer - And/Or Willow herringbone blazer, red boucle jacket - Mint Velvet (if sold out try John Lewis or Next)
Footwear I like; Burgandy mock croc ankle boots - M&S, ‘Irish Coffee’ tall boots by Bobbies, COS knee high cowboy boots, Boden leopard print ballet flats, Russell & Bromley mock croc boots, Mint Velvet suede ankle boots
I treated myself to a brown suede blazer last year from Mango and this year they are bang on trend! I was ahead of the game there 😂 - luckily they were so popular Mango have brought them back this year - MANGO SUEDE BLAZER
I hope you enjoyed this edit. Have a listen to my podcast if you’d like some more inspiration and some advice on finding your personal style - listen here - The Style Stories Podcast.
